Bigchiefvibes Media sat down with fast-rising Andoni-born artist Vicke Zaddy (real name Victor Appenetus Ebirien) to discuss his new single “I GO PAY” ft. Baybe HNXY, his musical journey, and what it means to represent Obolo talent at a time when local creatives are pushing harder than ever.

Born and raised in Bonny Island but deeply rooted in Agwut Obolo, Vicke Zaddy brings a blend of passion, culture, and modern Afrofusion energy to his craft. In this conversation, he opens up about inspiration, challenges, community, and the future of Obolo entertainment.

Q&A With Vicke Zaddy

*. Can you introduce yourself to our audience and tell us a bit about your musical background?

My name is Victor Appenetus Ebirien, from Agwut Obolo in Andoni, though I was born and raised in Bonny Island. Like most upcoming Nigerian artists, my love for music started in church as a chorister at Assembly of Yahweh’s Kingdom Lighthouse 3. I’m a sabatherian and naturally found myself leading as a western singer.

Switching to circular music started from peer pressure, freestyle sessions, and my love for entertainment. I began as a rapper, but since I can also sing, I now fuse both — singing choruses and rapping verses.

*. Your new song is about to drop — what inspired this particular track?

Honestly, I was imagining some silly things — like if love had a price. Instead of using sweet lines to toast a lady, you just ask, “How much is your love?” If the price suits you, you pay and she becomes yours. 

*. How would you describe your sound and style as an artist from Andoni?

Afrobeats with a mix of afrofusion, afrosoul, afro-dancehall, and afro-rap.

*. What message do you want listeners to take away from this new release?

It shows how far wealthy guys can go if love actually had a price tag. 

*. Were there any challenges you faced during the creation of this song?

Yes, I faced a few challenges while creating this song — the usual Nigerian issue: light wahala.

Because BUC Light in Bonny Island had problems, we had to book a hotel with a soundproof generator just to complete the recording.

Another major challenge is the lack of sponsors and government support for upcoming artists. Our environment doesn’t give young talents the opportunities they need to grow. If the government of Andoni LGA, well-meaning individuals, and stakeholders can start organizing events and invite bigger artists in the industry, it would give emerging acts like us the platform to perform, be seen, and be discovered.

You never know who might notice a rising star. We simply need better platforms to grow.

*. Who are your biggest musical influences?

Wizkid, Oxlade, Davido, Blaqbonez, Ladipoe, and Magix.

*. How do you want your music to represent Andoni and your community?

Some people believe Andoni men don’t love deeply or go the extra mile for their women. That’s false. Our men are intentional — we can go any mile for the ones we love. 

*. What should your fans expect next after this release?

My EP titled “BadBwoy 027”.

“I GO PAY” is one of the tracks, and the EP focuses on love, romance, and sex. 

*. Where can people follow you and listen to your new song once it’s out?

It’s already out on Spotify, Boomplay, Apple Music, and SoundCloud.

Fans can also use the sound on Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp stories.

*. How has media coverage, such as blogs and online features, helped you grow as an artist?

I need more streams and exposure — fanbase growth.

*. What message would you give to other young entertainers or athletes from the region looking to make it big?

The journey to stardom is not easy. But if passion is your driving force, keep pushing. At the start, nobody gets you — even family may doubt you. Let your passion speak louder. Stay consistent, disciplined, and committed. Every stage builds your mastery.

*. Finally, how can Bigchiefvibes continue to improve its efforts in promoting Obolo culture, talent, and development across Andoni and beyond?
