Comr. Micah Fynecountry speaks to Bigchiefvibes Media on the importance of unity events, education, sports investment, and the need for stronger communication structures in Andoni.
Following his widely circulated open letter to the Chairman of Andoni Local Government Area, Hon. Lucky Promise Otuo, prominent youth advocate Comr. Micah Fynecountry has expanded on his concerns and expectations in an interview with Bigchiefvibes Media, emphasizing continuity, unity, and community development as urgent priorities for the LGA.
Micah explained that his decision to speak publicly was driven by the absence of information regarding the Andoni International Carnival and Unity Football Competition—a highly anticipated annual event that traditionally fosters unity across different communities. He noted that while the current administration has initiated several projects, neighboring LGAs like Bonny and Opobo have already begun preparations for their own festivals, prompting his call for Andoni to maintain its established tradition.
He stressed that every administration has its unique blueprint, but continuity remains essential. According to him, completing major projects such as the Unyeada–Egendem–Asarama road, reviving the five-star hotel project at the council headquarters, strengthening existing peace structures, and sustaining the carnival and football competition would contribute significantly to Andoni’s development.
Micah described the Unity Football Competition as more than a sporting activity—it is a tool of peace, cohesion, and youth engagement. He noted that the matches, which are hosted across various communities, give residents the opportunity to explore parts of Andoni they may never have visited, reducing idleness and crime while strengthening relationships among young people. He highlighted the sense of safety and belonging the tournament has created, saying he can confidently enter any Andoni community because of the connections forged through the event.
During the interview, he also called for better communication structures within the LGA. He recommended the creation of a central social media platform managed by the council itself—one that remains constant across administrations. He believes this will ensure transparency and make vital information accessible to all residents. Micah further emphasized the need for young professionals to be employed in the media department to guarantee continuity, rather than relying solely on political appointments.
Education, he said, remains a pressing concern. He cited Government Secondary School Ngo as an example of the urgent need for rehabilitation, noting its poor infrastructure and inadequate academic facilities. According to him, the state of many primary and secondary schools across Andoni requires urgent attention if the LGA hopes to build a stronger future for its young population.
Micah also expressed strong confidence in Michael Oyet, suggesting the chairman retain him as head of the Unity Football Competition committee due to his consistency and proven dedication over the years. He explained that Oyet has plans to develop young footballers in the LGA but needs proper support and investment to bring those ideas to life.
Speaking further, he encouraged the people of Andoni to offer their own ideas and contributions, acknowledging that opinions may differ but the goal of shared progress remains universal. While he believes the carnival and competition should continue, he remains open to new initiatives that promote unity and growth.
He concluded by urging Chairman Otuo to strengthen his legacy through impactful governance—particularly in education, security, youth empowerment, and sports development. He noted that investing in sports could yield long-term benefits for the LGA, including the formation of a competitive ANOLGA team from local talent. He also called on the community to support the administration by maintaining peace, protecting public property, and contributing positively to Andoni’s growth.
