The people of Ama-Nroke Community in Unyeada Kingdom, Andoni Local Government Area, are calling on the Executive Chairman, Hon. Prince Lucky Promise Otuo, to urgently intervene and provide them with clean, safe drinking water.
For years, residents have endured the harsh reality of consuming contaminated water from shallow wells that are unsafe for human health. According to them, the situation has grown unbearable, leading to frequent illnesses among both children and adults.
During a correspondence with Bigchiefvibes Media, an elderly resident, Mr. Johnson Simeon, explained that the community has depended on the same water source for generations. He lamented that during the rainy season, the wells are filled with insects and dirt, forcing residents, including schoolchildren to walk long distances to neighboring communities in search of clean water.
Also speaking, Mrs. Celina Nroke Otuaman, widow, wife of the late village head, expressed deep concern over her worsening health condition caused by drinking the contaminated water.
> “I am not strong enough to go to far communities to fetch water,” she said. “Each time I drink from our well, I fall sick — vomiting, stooling, and having stomach pain. Doctors have warned me to stop, but this is the only water we have. I beg the Chairman to help us.
Another resident, Mrs. Ekene-Ekere Simeon, added that the bad water has caused several health issues among community members. She described their daily struggle as “a painful reality that can no longer be ignored.”
The people of Ama-Nroke are now appealing directly to Hon. Prince Lucky Promise Otuo, urging the council to take swift action to end their suffering by providing clean and accessible water for all residents.
Water is life and the people of Ama-Nroke believe that with the council’s intervention, their long struggle for safe drinking water can finally come to an end.
