LGA Chairman Chidi Lloyd visits scene; terrified students urge authorities for urgent protection.

Fresh fear has spread across the Emuoha Satellite Campus area in Rivers State after students were reportedly kidnapped in the early hours of Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Bigchiefvibes Media gathered that the attack occurred around 2AM in the Rumuohia community, intensifying concerns over rising insecurity in the area.

A student who preferred to remain anonymous narrated that the situation has been deteriorating for over a week. He explained that armed robbers had earlier invaded a lodge near the campus, attempting to molest female students, carting away valuables, and injuring a student who tried to defend others with a machete. That incident led to a large-scale student protest, as many complained that insecurity was becoming “the order of the day” in Emuoha.

According to him, after the protest, students expected community leaders and the local government authorities to take immediate steps to address the threat. However, he said no concrete action was taken. The situation turned tragic early Tuesday morning when armed men reportedly returned and kidnapped some students. Even the dog in the compound of the victims was shot during the attack.

The distressed student described the incident as heartbreaking, noting that the establishment of the satellite campus had been the biggest development the community had seen in years, yet the environment was becoming increasingly unsafe. He urged students to consider returning home for their safety, saying, “Your life is more important than anything. We don’t want to be holding candles and saying ‘we miss you.’”

Another student who also spoke to Bigchiefvibes Media on condition of anonymity confirmed that Hon. Chidi Lloyd, Chairman of Emuoha Local Government Area, visited the crime scene shortly after the news spread. He arrived with security operatives who inspected the apartment where the victims were taken. However, after assessing the situation, the team reportedly left the area.

The student added that learners in the community are now living in fear and are calling on the local government, Rivers State Government, community leaders, and security agencies to deploy full security presence in the area. He stressed that students “are no longer safe” and need urgent intervention.

As at the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force had not released an official statement regarding the incident.

Bigchiefvibes Media will continue to follow the story and provide updates as more details emerge.
