Ama Nroke Community Raises Fresh Alarm Over Cholera Risk, Appeals to Andoni LGA for Urgent Water Intervention

Residents of Ama Nroke community in Unyeada Kingdom have once again appealed to the Executive Chairman of Andoni Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Promise Lucky Otuo, to urgently intervene in their long-standing water challenges.

Speaking with Bigchiefvibes Media on Tuesday, 27 January 2026, a native of Ama Nroke community, who preferred to remain anonymous, expressed serious concerns over the lack of safe drinking water in the area. According to the resident, a community member reportedly suffered a cholera attack in December 2025 due to the consumption of unsafe water.

He explained that the situation could have resulted in a loss of life if not for timely medical intervention, stressing that the community continues to rely on unhealthy water sources, which pose serious risks to both adults and children.

The resident further recalled that on 6 November 2025, the community formally raised their concerns and visited the Andoni LGA Council, where they were assured that the government would look into the issue. However, months later, the community says no visible action has been taken.

The people of Ama Nroke are now appealing again to the Andoni LGA Chairman, popularly referred to as “Mr. Project,” Hon. Prince Promise Lucky Otuo, as well as relevant authorities, to come to their aid by providing access to safe and potable drinking water to protect lives and improve public health.

It will be recalled that Bigchiefvibes Media reported the Ama Nroke water crisis on 6 November 2025, which reportedly led to a meeting between the community and the Andoni LGA Council, with assurances given at the time to address the problem.

“As at the time of filing this report, residents maintain that no relief or project activity has started.”
