Polokiri Community Primary School Headmaster Appeals for Completion of School Project Under Andoni Council

The Headmaster of Polokiri Community Primary School, Mr. Ikuru John Charley, has appealed to the Andoni Local Government Area and the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board (RSUBEB) to urgently intervene and ensure the completion of the ongoing renovation project at the school.

Speaking with Bigchiefvibes Media on Wednesday, 21 January 2025, Mr. Ikuru expressed deep concern over the prolonged stoppage of work on the project, which has remained uncompleted for several months despite the fact that the school is fully in session.

According to the headmaster, the school management  were excluded from the project committee, leaving them uninformed about the reasons behind the delay. This exclusion, he noted, has made it difficult to understand why the project has stalled and when work will resume.

Mr. Ikuru appealed directly to the Executive Chairman of Andoni LGA, Hon. Prince Promise Lucky Otuo, and other relevant authorities overseeing the project to visit the school and ensure that the renovation is completed without further delay. He also called on well-meaning individuals, NGOs, and development partners to come to the aid of the school.

He further explained that due to the incomplete state of the school buildings, pupils have been scattered across different temporary locations to continue learning. This arrangement, he said, has posed serious challenges for both teachers and pupils, as the alternative learning spaces are far from the main school, poorly structured, and not conducive for effective teaching and learning.

“The distance, the poor environment, and the lack of proper facilities are affecting the pupils academically and emotionally,” Mr. Ikuru lamented, stressing that urgent action is needed to safeguard the welfare and education of the children.

The headmaster concluded by reiterating his plea for swift intervention to ensure the timely completion of the Polokiri Community Primary School renovation project, in the best interest of the pupils and the community at large.
