“We Cannot Sit Down and Wait for Others to Do It for Us” — Hon. Dr. Gogo Ogute Isaiah, Former Andoni Caretaker Chairman.

 “We cannot sit down and wait for others to do it for us,” Hon. Dr. Gogo Ogute Isaiah stated.while speaking at the venue of the pre-voters registration exercise held on Wednesday, 21st January 2026, at Etekan, Unyeada Kingdom, Andoni Local Government Area.

Speaking with Bigchiefvibes Media, Hon. Dr. Gogo Ogute Isaiah, former Caretaker Chairman of Andoni LGA and Chairman of the Unyeada Voters Registration Committee, explained that the exercise is a continuation of the commitment made by the committee set up by the people of  Idaa Ido Unyeada Kingdom to bring INEC closer to the grassroots.

In his words, “We cannot continue to fold our hands and wait for others to come and do it for us. We promised to bring INEC home for voters registration, and today we are fulfilling that promise.”

Hon. Dr. Isaiah expressed dissatisfaction with some politicians and individuals in Unyeada Kingdom, noting that they stand to benefit the most from the voters registration exercise but failed to support efforts aimed at making the process easier for the people. He appealed to politicians to stop playing politics in their home communities and instead support initiatives that strengthen democracy at the grassroots.

He appreciated individuals and groups who have contributed in various ways to support the committee, particularly in logistics and welfare for the registration officials. He encouraged others to continue rendering support to ensure the smooth running of the exercise and assured the public that every expenditure would be properly accounted for.

Hon. Dr. Isaiah further explained that after one week of registration in Unyeada main town, the exercise will move to Isiodum, and subsequently to Egbormung, Dema, Ibotirem, Samanga, and Ajakajak communities within Unyeada Kingdom.

He added that for residents who are unable to return home from Port Harcourt during the exercise, voter registration will also be conducted in Port Harcourt, specifically at Bundu and Lagos Bus Stop, to ensure wider participation and inclusiveness.

He urged all eligible residents to take full advantage of the voters registration exercise, stressing that voter registration is not only a civic duty but also a powerful tool for securing representation, development, and a stronger voice for Unyeada Kingdom in the democratic process.

Other dignitaries present at the exercise included Hon. Esuikup Obidiah, President-General of IDAA IDO Unyeada; the Unyeada CDC Chairman, Mr. ThankGod; Sir IK, and other community leaders.

Residents of Unyeada came out in large numbers to participate in the voters registration exercise, expressing happiness and appreciation to those who made efforts to ensure the process was accessible and smooth for the people.
