“Ijaw Nation Has Gone Beyond Trade by Barter” — IYC Secretary General Warns Against Personal Interests Ahead of General Elections:

Hon. (Comr.) Esuikup Obediah Etekan, Secretary General of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, has called on Ijaw leaders, stakeholders, and youths to place the unity of the Ijaw Nation above personal interests as preparations intensify for the forthcoming IYC general Elections Worldwide. Speaking on the need for peace, unity, and a credible electoral process, Etekan stressed that the Ijaw Nation cannot afford another round of division. “A lot of things are happening within the Ijaw Nation, and some of us cannot fold our hands and allow them continue. The unity of the Ijaw Nation should be paramount to every son and daughter of Ijaw land,” he stated. He urged leaders across the various clans and regions to work together for the collective progress of the Ijaw people, noting that a peaceful and transparent election process is crucial to the future of the IYC and the Ijaw Nation at large. The IYC Secretary General also advised Mr. Christopher Bidi, the factional ELECO Chairman, to set aside personal interests and avoid using his position for negotiations or arrangements that may undermine the credibility of the electoral process. According to Etekan, the Ijaw Nation has gone beyond the era of “trade by barter,” stressing that its affairs must be handled with transparency, fairness, accountability, and the collective interest of the people. He further emphasized that the forthcoming IYC general Elections Worldwide should serve as a platform for strengthening unity, promoting peace, and advancing the aspirations of the Ijaw people rather than creating further divisions. whats your take on this, drop your thoughts in the comment section below.
